Updated national snapshot and state-by-state overdose epidemic reports

The nation’s drug overdose and death epidemic has killed more than one million Americans in the past 25 years. The epidemic continues to be driven by illicitly manufactured fentanyl, often in combination with other toxic adulterants. Nearly 104,000 deaths were reported in the United States between Dec. 2022 and Dec. 2023.
