How do physician signing bonuses stack up for your specialty?

When it comes to physicians in high-demand specialties, the most recent data from a top physician recruiting firm shows that would-be employers are offering more in the way of physician signing bonuses, medical student-loan repayment—which some might think of broadly as “physician loan forgiveness”—as well as relocation packages, CME allowances and other aspects that round out the overall compensation picture.

“It is highly competitive when sourcing for physicians that are looking for new opportunities, as well as, most importantly, the ones that are coming out of residency that are our future,” according to Alex Herbison, vice president of AMN Healthcare’s Physician Solutions division.
