Sylvestor Moses, MD, PhD, a hospitalist at the San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation in Peridot, Arizona, holds the position of Young Physicians Section representative on the Minority Affairs Section Governing Council at the American Medical Association.

The MAS is a member interest group within the AMA dedicated to addressing the issues and concerns of underrepresented minority physicians and improving the health of minority populations.

Dr. Moses is a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe. He attended the University of Arizona for undergraduate and graduate school, earning a joint PhD in molecular and cellular biology/biochemistry with a main research focus on cancer drug research and discovery. He later returned to the University of Arizona for medical school and then residency in internal medicine. He is passionate about tackling the issues that are present regarding the disparities in health care amongst the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities, as well as finding innovative ways to increase representation of AI/AN members in health care fields.
